Strength, Balance & Muscle Testing
At Aura Longevity, we use advanced force plate technology to measure how your body produces, absorbs and controls force during movement. While strength is important, how you generate that strength can provide valuable information about your mobility, balance and long-term musculoskeletal health.
Force plates provide objective, real-time data about your movement and force production. Every movement you perform on the platform is measured down to fractions of a second, allowing our clinicians to identify strengths, imbalances and areas that may benefit from targeted intervention. This information helps inform personalised recommendations based on measurable data.
What Does Force Plate Testing Measure?
Force plates analyse the forces your body applies to the ground during a range of movements such as pushing, standing, squatting, jumping and balance assessments. From these movements we can evaluate important physical and functional markers including:
- Lower body strength and power
- Upper body strength and power
- Left-to-right strength symmetry
- Balance and postural stability
- Rate of force development
- Landing and deceleration mechanics
- Neuromuscular function
- Functional movement quality
These measurements provide valuable information about how your muscles, joints and nervous system work together during movement and can help identify differences in movement strategy, stability or force production.
Why Is This Important?
Muscle strength, power and balance play an important role in maintaining physical function as we age. Changes in these areas can develop gradually over time. Identifying areas for attention can help inform targeted exercise and rehabilitation strategies designed to support mobility, physical function and healthy ageing.
Force plate testing can also be valuable for active individuals. The technology can help identify movement asymmetries, monitor fatigue, measure recovery and track changes over time, allowing training programs to be tailored to your individual needs.
Track Meaningful Progress
One of the key benefits of force plate testing is the ability to establish an objective baseline and monitor changes over time. Whether your goal is improving strength, recovering from injury, supporting athletic performance or maintaining physical function as you age, repeat assessments can provide measurable information about your progress.
This objective data provides insight into how your body is responding to your personalised treatment and exercise program. It allows our clinical team to review your results and refine your plan where appropriate to support your long-term health and wellbeing.
Part of a Complete Longevity Assessment
Force plate testing is one component of Aura Longevity’s comprehensive diagnostic assessment. When combined with DEXA body composition scanning, VO₂ Max testing, metabolic assessment, advanced pathology and clinical review, it provides additional information about your physical capacity and functional health.
By integrating these assessments, our doctors and trainers can develop a more comprehensive picture of your current health and create a personalised strategy designed to support movement, muscle function and healthy ageing.
